Wendell Rivera, an acclaimed Latin jazz percussionist and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee (Class of 2000), has been a cornerstone of the Western New York music scene for over 20 years. Born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Rivera’s vibrant style blends Afro-Caribbean rhythms with the melodic and harmonic freedom of jazz. His career spans performances with iconic artists such as Aretha Franklin, Arturo Sandoval, Dave Valentin, and Bob Mintzer, to name a few.

A celebrated bandleader, composer, and educator, Rivera’s Latin Jazz Ensemble is known for its exhilarating live shows, drawing inspiration from legends like Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente. Rivera’s discography includes the critically acclaimed albums No Boundaries and Portfolio, which showcase his mastery of Latin jazz.
