Celebrate the birthday of the "Brown Sugar" king himself. We pay homage to the man who redefined Neo-Soul, blending the grit of the street with the smoothness of the sanctuary. Join us for a night of deep grooves, falsetto highs, and that unmistakable D'Angelo pocket.
We've assembled a powerhouse lineup to bring the D'Angelo catalog to life:
Bashiri Asad (Host & Vocalist): Known as the "Everyday Soul Singer," Bashiri is the architect of "Indy-Soul." With the soul-stirring depth of Donny Hathaway and the technical precision of a classically trained artist, he doesn't just sing songs—he crafts soundtracks for life. Bashiri leads the evening with his signature authenticity and relentless delivery.
Damon Karl: A veteran of the stage who has shared the spotlight with icons like Babyface and Patti LaBelle. This Tech High School alum brings international flair and a smooth acoustic touch. Best known for his hit "Don't Wake Me Up (If I'm Dreaming)," Karl's seasoned vocals are the perfect match for D'Angelo's sophisticated R&B arrangements.
Neko Vynez: One-third of the chart-topping trio 4Cast, Neko is a master of harmony and songwriting. Having opened for The Isley Brothers and celebrated the legacy of After 7's Kevon Edmonds, Neko brings a modern, hit-making energy to the stage. Whether he's writing for his MECAP labelmates or prepping for 4Cast's 2026 EP, his stage presence is pure electricity.
This isn't just a concert; it's a vibe. From the raw, stripped-back soul of Brown Sugar to the complex, psychedelic layers of Voodoo and Black Messiah, we are diving deep into the music of D'Angelo.
