ZANA: Women of the Little 500 2024 (22 mins) with a Pre-Film Q&A with filmaker Grace Williams!

“ZANA” chronicles the remarkable story of Melanzana, a women's cycling team with a storied history in the Women's Little 500 at Indiana University. Through a lens both personal and poignant, the film captures Zana's pursuit of a historic three-peat victory while exploring the broader themes of gender equality and female empowerment within the traditionally male-dominated world of competitive cycling.

The film is the brainchild of Grace Williams, who made waves as a member of Zana during their first historic win in 2022, and Emily Segura Maze, who has deep-rooted connections to the cycling world. Their paths crossed during a college film internship, leading to a shared vision of using their unique perspectives to elevate women’s voices in both cycling and media.

BREAKING AWAY 1979 (1hr 40mins)

Breaking Away is an American coming of age comedy-drama film that follows a group of four male teenagers in Bloomington, Indiana, who have recently graduated from high school. The film stars Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern (in his film debut), Jackie Earle Haley, Barbara Barrie, Paul Dooley, and Robyn Douglass.

"Breaking Away" won the 1979 Golden Globe Award for Best Film and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for writer Steve Tesich, an alumnus of Indiana University, where much of the movie was filmed.

The protagonist, a local boy named Dave Stohler, becomes smitten with bike racing and an IU coed at the same moment. He takes on a shiny new Italian persona, driving his hones-ty-is-optional used car salesman father to the brink of heart failure. The movie's climax takes place at the annual Little 500 where the Cutters team defeat the fraternity boys for the first time.
