Jonathan Ray is a Tacoma, Washington based singer-songwriter creating emotionally charged alternative music that blends indie rock, emo, and theatrical intensity. Known for incisive, hyper-personal lyrics and dynamic full-band arrangements, his songs move effortlessly between quiet confession and explosive release.
Originally emerging as a solo project in the late 2010s, Ray’s sound has evolved from stripped-down acoustic demos into louder, sharper productions. Recent singles like “Party Dead!” and “Condescending Me” mark a clear turning point; embracing tension, dark humor, and self-awareness while rejecting creative restraint. His work resonates with fans of emotionally maximalist artists such as Will Wood, Car Seat Headrest, and Jeff Rosenstock.
Jonathan Ray is currently finishing his self-titled debut album, set for release in February 2026. To support the record, he will embark on an extensive North American tour in April 2026, running from Vancouver, BC to San Diego, then looping back through New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho. Looking ahead, he is also preparing a new EP for Fall 2026 to maintain momentum while developing his second full-length album.
