Meridiane is an international collective currently based in the Appalachian valleys of southwestern Virginia. The earliest incarnations of the music were performed by main songwriter Joshua Strachan (Vaura, Desolation Colony) and cellist Kaily Schenker (Solar Hex, Universal Light) one winter night in an Oddfellows Lodge in Blacksburg, Virginia in January of 2020. Strachan then enlisted the collaboration of 4AD luminaries Pieter Nooten (This Mortal Coil, Clan of Xymox) and Warren Defever (His Name Is Alive) to complete work on the project debut album, “To Walk Behind The Sun.” Working remotely, the members combined wintry electronics, hypnotic beats, atmospheric cellos, and ethereal guitars into a sound as faithful to the sounds of the members' classic work as to contemporaries such as GAS and Tor Lundvall. In late 2025, Strachan assembled a SWVA-based ensemble to perform Meridiane live for the first time ever.
Timber Rattle is a roving, revolving, and ongoing music project that explores the connections between primordial sound, landscape, bodies, life, death, magic, language, ritual, myth, space, cycles, animals, plants, food and poison. Adam Parks constructs hypnotic doom folk using layers of synth drone, acoustic guitars and pastoral vocal layers. With home bases as varied as Ithaca, Seattle, Czech Republic and Southwest VA, Parks can often be found touring the US and Europe as Timber Rattle or with his collaboration with Drekka, Water Is The Sun.
Spirit Trap is an exercise in high concept occult electronics. Returning to the mountains of Blacksburg after studying sound and history in Berlin, Sean Regan has brought his specific approach to synthetic and acoustic music to the underground DIY spaces of Roanoke and Blacksburg.
