Professor Louie & The Crowmatix perform The Band repertoire, learned

directly from The Band and songs Louie created with The Band - including their

comeback hit Atlantic City. He collaborated with The Band for over fifteen years.


Aaron “Professor Louie” Hurwitz co-produced, engineered and performed on

the last three Albums by Rock n Roll Hall of Fame group The Band, Jericho,

High On The Hog, Jubilation and recorded solo albums by each member Levon

Helm & The Crowmatix, Souviner Vol. 1, three Rick Danko

(bassist and vocalist) recordings and the only solo CD by Garth Hudson

(keyboardist) The Sea To The North.


Grammy Nominated All-star Band Professor Louie & The Crowmatix began

as the studio-backing band for Aaron Professor Louie’s musical productions

for The Band. Rick Danko, bass player and singer of The Band christened him -

Professor Louie - due to his work with The Band and it’s individual members.


Professor Louie has emerged in the music industry as the torchbearer of the

true spirit of American Roots Music. Collaborating with The Band for over

fifteen years on live performances, television, radio shows & Co-producing the

Band’s last three CD’s in the 90’s. and many of their projects.


Professor Louie & The Crowmatix perform consistently playing over 100

performances a year. The show will present a diverse set list with songs from

The Band, Bob Dylan, Professor Louie & The Crowmatix original blues

songs, from their 17 studio CD’s on The Woodstock Records Label.


In 2023, Woodstock Records released on vinyl Professor Louie & The

Crowmatix: Rockin’ Legacy Vol. 1 EP, which was #4 on the Relix /Jamband

Charts and garnered great reviews & radio play. Their 2022 release Strike Up

The Band spent ten months on the Contemporary Blues Roots Music Radio

Charts. Their new recording Crowin’ Around is slated to be released March 7,

2025 on The Woodstock Records Label.


They hold a permanent place in The Canada South Blues Museum.

Recipients of The Robert H. Chambers Award for Excellence in the

Traditional Arts from Common Ground on the Hill and have been inducted

in The New York State Blues Hall of Fame.
