Born in the California desert and raised in Detroit, Alan Scheurman has released music as Santiparro since 2010, a name given to him by a Wixarika elder on pilgrimage. Blending indie psychedelia with folk intimacy, his debut True Prayer (2015, Gnome Life) featured Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Kyp Malone, beginning a creative thread with Oldham that resurfaces in his 2025 single Chaos Incarnate, written in response to a question about reincarnation and released ahead of a tour opening for him. After a decade living in Joshua Tree and releases including The Talon (2018), Shadow Dancer (2020), and Everywhere You Ever Were (2024), Santiparro will play his first full-band live set in the high desert after returning from tour.
