Snooze

Snooze is a heavy, happy math-rock band from Chicago, often described as “Meshuggah in major”—but more commonly, just “a band.” Their debut full-length album, Familiaris, introduced listeners to an intricately composed concept piece chronicling the life of a beloved family dog. The record weaves rich vocal harmonies through polyrhythmic, neck-snapping breakdowns, crafting a sound both emotionally resonant and technically intense.

In 2020, Snooze released the Still EP, a heartfelt tribute to longtime bassist Cameron Grom. Featuring thunderous drumming from Anup Sastry, the EP marked a sonic shift toward heavier territory—blending the band’s math-rock roots with the aggressive edge of djent and other technical metal influences.

Their highly anticipated sophomore album, I Know How You Will Die (2025), pushes even further. A sprawling, conceptual journey, the record spans a vast sonic palette—from relentless blast beats to engrossing live choir arrangements—while staying anchored in Snooze’s signature off-kilter grooves and rhythms. More than a collection of songs, the through-composed nature of Snooze’s music creates a singular, immersive experience that demands full attention
