When Boston’s Swinging Steaks signed with Capricorn Records in 1993, they pioneered what is now called Americana - blending rock,

country, and roots music into a sound praised by legendary producer Phil Walden as simply great music. Their national debut, ‘Southside of the Sky,’ stands as an Americana benchmark, earning acclaim from Creem magazine as “the best country-rock out of Boston since Gram Parsons.”

Over three decades, eight albums and countless shows later, the Swinging Steaks still earn their reputation as a dynamic, charismatic live act - reflecting their sheer joy of playing music together. Their latest release, "YoYo", was co-produced by Boston rock legend Dave Minehan and features tight vocal harmonies, musical chops and tunes from the group's three fine songwriters.

The Steaks have toured/appeared with legends like Los Lobos, The Band, The Black Crowes and are delighted to return to Sanctuary Saturday, December 5.

With a career spanning over three decades, Jim Larkin is an accomplished songwriter and sideman with a wealth of live performing experience. His collaborative sideman work extends to celebrated acts such as Jesse Dee, Danielle M and the Glory Junkies, Brothers McCann, Spotted Tiger, Ryan Fitzsimmons Band, and many many others, in addition to his own engaging band and solo acoustic performances.

Jim's contributions to multiple award-winning bands, recognized by distinguished institutions like the Boston Music Awards and the New England Music Awards, underscore his commitment and dedication to advancing his artistry. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with renowned figures including Jack Johnson, Rev. Al Green, Lake Street Dive, The J. Geils Band, The Original Wailers, Los Lobos, Martin Sexton, Maceo Parker, and Preservation Hall, both in live performances and studio sessions, since moving to Boston in 2001.

“This song was a Jim Larkin number, a kinda folky singer-songwritery tune. Not new folk. No, rather, folk with good, old-school, slightly psychedelic ’70s DNA. And hey, Jim has an identifiable hooky twinge in his vox. Who knew? ” - Geoff Wilbur, music journalist

“Jim Larkin's beautiful song is stuck in my head for the day ”

— Oliver Wood, The Wood Brothers
