Local favorites The Desperate Bastards are joining forces with violinist Ernest Brusubardis IV (Chicken Wire Empire) and pianist/vocalist Kara Kesselring (Standing Room Only, Sugarcreek Road) and upright bassist Patrick Williams (Under the Streetlamp, Bridget Lyons & Co) to pay tribute to Texas songwriter/singer extraordinaire Lyle Lovett. Lovett is an American treasure and one of the greatest songwriters in the Texas tradition combining elements of Country, Swing, Jazz, Gospel and Blues.

Steeped in Bluegrass, Blues and American Roots Music, The DB’s bring an energy and love for improvisation and tradition bound with modern edges. Their bag is deep, drawing from old standards, classic rock tunes, swampy blues, traditional fiddle tunes as well as original compositions.

The band is based in Chicago and draws it’s inspiration from musical pioneers ranging from Bill Monroe to Robert Johnson, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Ry Cooder, Lyle Lovett, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan and Warren Zevon

The Desperate Bastards are Mike Church (guitar), Jim Nelson (bass, vocals), Rob Anderlik (dobro, lap steel, guitar, vocals) and Drew Littell (drums).
