Years ago, very late at night I stumbled upon a film called BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY on a streaming service - a film that introduced me to the truly insane world of "Industrial Musicals". No, Trent Reznor hasn't started pursuing an EGOT (yet) - Industrial Musicials are full length shows created to serve as expensive corporate propaganda. Lavish productions created for sales retreats, board meetings, and more - but not at all for the general public. Delighting (in song) to tell us about the all new models of toasters, tractors and more. As a connoisseur of weird old shit that occasionally defies explination, and the son of a high school theater teacher, I was hooked.

So what a delight it was to recently recieve an email from the star of that documentary - Steve Young - asking if he could bring his treasure trove of film clips and live music for a live performance at our bar!

The clips themselves may be funny, but so is Steve! He was a long time writer for both LETTERMAN and THE SIMPSONS, which is basically like playing in both the MLB & NFL for Harvard comedy grads (yes, he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon as well)

Steve Young is a comedy writer known for his work with David Letterman, Matt Groening, and Lorne Michaels. Steve has received multiple Emmy and Writers Guild Award nominations, as well as an Annie Award for his animation writing. Film rights to Steve’s book about the secret world of corporate musicals were purchased by Steven Spielberg's company Amblin Entertainment. The book also inspired Focus Features’ critically-acclaimed documentary BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY, starring Steve, which won numerous awards and which can be seen on Amazon, Apple, and other platforms.
