Somewhere between here and the afterlife, there’s a boat called the Happiness Frontier, and Vancouver trio Bealby Point are throwing a party on it.
In a world of micro-influencers, disposable content, and music made by machines, Bealby Point have always done things the old-fashioned way. Formed in 2018 by childhood friends Jack Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Jordan Studer (bass), and Zack Yeager (drums), the indie rockers have built a hard-earned reputation through relentless live shows and honest, hook-forward songwriting that lands somewhere between Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes. They’ve toured across Canada winning over fans one room at a time, and their debut single “I’m So Bummed Out Right Now” has passed a million streams.
The momentum only built from there. The album’s advance singles passed 300,000 streams independently before Happiness Frontier even dropped, and both the groovy “Double Disco” and the rock-forward “Metastasized,” earned spots on Sirius XM’s The Verge. That’s no small feat for a band operating without label support.
Released October 23, 2026, Happiness Frontier is the band’s debut album, and its most ambitious idea yet: a concept record set aboard a ship adrift in purgatory, somewhere between the life left behind and whatever comes next. Everyone on board is stuck for the same reason: they have something to resolve before they can move on. Each song steps into the shoes of a different passenger, and together the tracks become a portrait of a crowded deck full of regrets, rivalries, and second chances.
Musically, the album pairs that storytelling with the band’s gift for a chorus. Melodic, catchy indie rock drives the voyage, with big guitar hooks and tight grooves, and every so often the sound drifts into something hazier and more psychedelic, as if the fog has rolled in off the water. It’s an album with a strong narrative spine that still works one song at a time, built to be sung along to.
“Writing this album with my best friends was a dream come true,” says Jack. “Developing a concept album is something we’ve always aspired to do, and to finally have it out now for everyone to enjoy is an incredible feeling.” Zack adds: “I am so proud of these songs and each little detail that has gone into making them what they are.”
“Blood, sweat and tears went into this album, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” says Jordan. “When I listen back, I think of the long nights writing songs with Jack and Zack, and even longer days recording in the studio. I’m infinitely proud of the work that went into it and so happy it’s finally out in the world. On to the next one.”
After nearly a decade of doing things the right way, Bealby Point are ready for their moment.
