With twin fiddles, banjo, guitar, and rich vocal harmonies, Celtic Underground brings a lively, high-energy take on Irish and Scottish folk music with an Americana twist. Based in the Washington, DC area, the band blends driving jigs and reels, pub singalongs, and timeless ballads with the storytelling spirit that connects Celtic and American roots traditions.
This special concert at Jammin Java celebrates the release of Celtic Underground’s debut album, You Can Always Go Home. The record is a collection of fresh arrangements of beloved folk songs, lively Irish trad tunes, and original songwriting, woven together in the spirit of the shared stories at the heart of this traditional music—nostalgia, belonging, and the pull of home.
Opening the evening is Grace Leckey, an Americana roots singer-songwriter now based in New York City, returning to her home state of Virginia for her Jammin Java debut as a solo artist. With Celtic sensibilities, bright strings, and tender harmonies, her 2025 sophomore album Hell Gate pays tribute to Astoria and her Irish Catholic roots there. She recently completed a residency in Homer, Alaska where she composed and recorded Every Rock Changes – A Song Cycle for the Climate Crisis.
