The 14th Annual Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival features a morning guitar competition and an evening concert! Tickets are available separately for each, or an all-day pass is available.
The Competition begins at 11am, bringing dozens of acoustic guitarists from around the world to the Playhouse stage. After the 1st round of competition, the Final Five have a play-off to see who will be named champion!
The Evening Concert features the Top 3 Compeition winners, followed by Tim & Myles Thompson, a father-son duo from Nashville, TN.
Tickets are available for each event as well as an all-day pass. Front & Center seating is available for the evening concert.
Tim is a session player, singer/songwriter, and two-time winner of the International Fingerstyle Competition. Music has always been a part of the Thompson family, and it’s what inspired Myles to pick up the violin when he was just five years old. By twelve, Myles was already diving into music theory and improvising with a skill well beyond his years. Now, he’s also an accomplished singer/songwriter and mandolin player, and he’s toured with legends like Robben Ford and Crystal Gayle.
Tim has worked with artists like Tommy Emmanuel, Crystal Gayle, and Hwy 101. He’s released eleven CDs and two DVDs and been featured in Wood & Steel (Taylor Guitars), Just Jazz Guitar, and Fingerstyle Guitar, which once called him “a Nashville-based fingerstylist that burns!” Tim has also taught at workshops like the Fur Peace Ranch and Steve Kaufman’s Guitar Camp, and his original music has been featured on NPR, Casper’s Haunted Christmas CD, and even Flip Video Camera software.
The Thompsons’ music is all about original songs that mix storytelling with incredible musicianship. When it comes to cover songs, they make them their own by taking them apart and putting them back together in a way only they can. Their sound is tough to pin down—it blends acoustic rock, pop, country, Celtic, jazz, funk, and so much more.
