iosthesinger
A singer-songwriter whose range has been praised by the likes of Andra Day, featured on HBO at the Apollo; IO’s journey began through music in the South as a worship leader in Gospel Music, leading her to be featured on BET’s Sunday Best. Shortly after, transitioning as a student of Jazz music in Washington DC at Howard University. The singer’s love of classic rock, funk, and pop is heard in every performance she delivers. She currently live in Sevilla Spain where she has collaborated with the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla and performed at numerous festivals and venues. As a victim of childhood and sexual abuse, IO chooses to channel her electric stage presence and storytelling through performing songs that reflect freedom, rage and the vast spectrum of emotions evoked from the human experience. At her core, the IOthesinger embodies the act of coming home to yourself.
Zanj
Zanj is a Rock project forged in the spirit of liberation and defiance. From classic and prog to grunge, hardcore, and funk-rock, the band blends raw energy with original sound and sharp interpretation. Named in quiet tribute to a historic uprising, Zanj channels resistance through powerful music and storytelling.
Taisha Estrada
Tiny Desk Top Shelf artist, singer-songwriter Taisha Estrada has been making waves in DC’s music scene since her arrival. Estrada engages audiences with a vibrant stage presence and is known for her powerful, genre-fluid voice and vulnerable, bilingual lyricism.T
Dante Pope
Dante’ blends his gospel roots and multi-genre experience into a warm sound with a message of love and vulnerability. The multi-instrumentalist contributed to the Grammy-nominated album, ‘Black Cowboys,’ with Smithsonian Folkways and Grammy winner Dom Flemons, and most recently toured as drummer/pianist and featured vocalist for 2x Grammy award country powerhouse, Nashville-based group, Old Crow Medicine Show, known for their hit song, “Wagon Wheel.” The new single, “Proof,” comes after a slight hiatus from his solo career, given his love for collaboration. “Proof” was born out of a longing to put all his influences in a bottle: gospel, spirituals, blues, soul, and jazz. The song is akin to the nuance of the great Bill Withers, mixed with Delta blues guitar riffs as a nod to his family's roots in North Delta, Mississippi.
