I Made Rock 'N' Roll Listening Session at 6281 in Indianapolis on Thursday, April 11, 2024!

I Made Rock 'N' Roll honors Black artistry and authorship in the rock genre at its festival on May 18th in Indianapolis, in media, and programming. This Listening Session will happen in a repurposed, Broad Ripple, speakeasy setting. Expect funky vibes, bar service, and a cool auditory experience, along with conversations about the rich legacy and continued influence of Black artistry in rock music. Guests are invited to socialize and will hear curated selections of rock music created and inspired by Black musicians, along with stories from curators about how these songs have influenced their lives—and culture in general.

Doors open at 7:00 PM at 6281 N. College Ave - the former Crackers Comedy Club space next door to The Vogue.

Nicole O'Neal

Nicole O'Neal (she/her) is a Co-Chair of the inaugural I Made Rock 'N' Roll Festival and the bassist and vocalist of the Indianapolis alt-rock trio Wife Patrol. In a music career that has included everything from radio & concert promotion to artist & venue management, she has made it her mission to increase visibility for underrepresented musicians.

Rusty Redenbacher

Rusty Redenbacher has long been a fixture on the local scene. Known for his high-energy work with Birdmen Of Alcatraz and indie hip-hop pioneers Mudkids, as well as his time hosting 'The Rock Block' on Indy's Music Channel, Redenbacher is the definition of a 'mainstay. Currently, Rusty is also handling lead singer duties for The Last IV with an album in the works.

Poindexter

Poindexter is an artist from Indiana best known for pushing the technical boundaries of modern day alternative “trap” music and highly artistic visuals. He’s worked with legends such as Project Pat, Benny the Butcher and many more. From blessing big stages in Indy such as the old national center to large festivals like sxsw, Poindexter has proven to be one of Indiana’s most esteemed curators and taste makers.
