Alec Stewart hails from Philadelphia, but started writing and playing songs at a little folk club in Cleveland, Ohio. Old blues songs and a thriving indie rock scene that dominated the small venues of the early aughts inspired his own hybrid of pop-songs. Steeped in Americana and often played with open tunings, droning chords create tiny worlds filled with quick bursts of energy and lyrics that fall short of abstraction, bound together by recognizable emotion.
