IV AND THE STRANGE BAND

IV and the Strange Band is an alternative-country project led by Coleman Williams (also known as "IV"), the great-grandson of country legend Hank Williams. Based in Nashville, the band is known for a "100-watt" sound that blends traditional outlaw country and bluegrass with the grit of punk and heavy rock. Coleman Williams spent his early 20s as a teacher before embracing his musical heritage at age 29—the same age his great-grandfather passed away. Rather than relying on his family name, he formed the Strange Band to forge a unique sonic path that balances "spectacle and spirit". Their music often features amplified guitars paired with traditional instruments like the fiddle, banjo, and lap steel.
