ROAD SALT: an evening of music to melt the ICE (to benefit MONARCA-MN)
Old friends David Wimbish (The Collection) and Jesse James Deconto (The Pinkerton Raid) had been planning their spring return to Minneapolis, along with the rest of their Midwest dates, for months. But, whatever expectations they’d first conjured of a typical tour stop melted away as they, along with millions of other Americans, watched in horror as ICE terrorized this great city.
Instead of dropping the date altogether, local friends encouraged them, “the time for music is now.” And so they reconfigured and planned a night of rest and recuperation for the wonderful people of Minneapolis.
Jesse had heard from friends on the ground about MONARCA-MN, equipping observers to defend free speech, peaceful protest and due process, and needing donations. “I wonder about actually making it a fundraiser from people who DON’T live in Minneapolis,” David said, “for them to donate, rather than asking the people there in the middle of the front lines to do it.”
We don't want money to be a barrier for anyone who wants to attend. If you're not able to contribute to the MONARCA fundraiser, please feel free to use the promo code MONARCAMN for one of the limited number of respite tickets we're reserving for folks who need an evening of rest and community.
Anyone can donate at the door if they’re so moved. The good folks at Wrecktangle are donating pizza to feed anyone there who’s hungry. “We’d especially love for our friends, family and fans outside of Minnesota to help us offer this show to the people of Minneapolis, to those fighting for freedom and justice for all of us,” Jesse said. “After we make sure the staff at Hook & Ladder get paid and cover their costs, we’re going to donate all proceeds from this show to MONARCA and their work with immigrants and protesters.” https://monarcamn.org/
