Celebrating WORLD SAXOPHONE DAY

Friday, November 6, 2026, we come together at The Caz for an evening celebrating the sound of the saxophone, the people who have helped keep music alive in our community, and the next generation carrying it forward.

This year’s stage will feature an incredible lineup:

Jimmie Highsmith Jr. — Grammy-nominated saxophonist

Bill Tiberio — Award-winning saxophonist & educator

Stevie Boyar — Educator & multi-instrumentalist

Darryl Brown — Soulful saxophonist

Will Holton — Event Presenter, Award-Winning Saxophonist

But this night is about more than the music.

We are proud to honor longtime educator Benjamin Boyar, whose decades of teaching have touched the lives of thousands of young musicians.

Steve Wingrove of Alder Creek Music, whose service, craftsmanship and commitment to musicians helped make his music store feel like a second home to generations of Western New York musicians.

We will also present the Will Holton “Make It Happen” Award to an incredible young musician, 12-year-old Rodney Spears Jr., who plays drums, keyboards and saxophone and already represents the bright future of music in our community.

This is what World Saxophone Day means to me — honoring those who came before us, celebrating those making music today, and encouraging the young people who will carry it forward.
