Seven Teller is the art-rock brainchild of Baltimore musician and songwriter Sam Cochran, who started the project in 2020. A blend of post-punk, dance, and psych-rock music nourishes the band’s unique, immersive sound. The band’s roster includes Sam, Jager Soss (formerly of Baked Shrimp), Wyatt Graham, and Ben Nevius. Seven Teller’s new album What Are The Chances? is out now and they are on a massive tour in support of it.
Seven Teller is expanding the norms by creating music that’s reminiscent of acts like LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, and CAN, while still performing live shows that showcase deep improvisation, referencing their roots in the jam scene and early influences like Phish and Lotus. Their devoted fanbase, called “Teller Family,” travels hours to concerts, so the band tries to make each night feel more spontaneous and special than the last.
Seven Teller has been featured on Philm Magazine, has featured sit-ins from Cotter Ellis (Goose), Jake Brownstein (Eggy), and Eli Winderman (Dopapod). The band thrives on festivals; they’re playing Domefest this year, and have performed at fests such as Some Kind Of Jam, The Get Down, and Pine Ridge Music Fest. The band’s strongest markets are in the mid-atlantic, but they’ve built a reputation in states as far as Colorado and Texas.
ViRG is a synth-based indie rock band from Virginia formed by Piano Whitman. ViRG is centered around femininity and freedom while highlighting the whiplash of an unstable lifestyle, guilt, and the devastation of love. Whitman’s commanding voice is reinforced by intricate, lush synthesizers and strong rhythms produced by both drum-machines and acoustic percussion. Fans of both straight ahead indie-pop songwriting or the moody tech excursions of ‘Kid A’ will find something to enjoy in ViRG’s repertoire.
