Enter the wormhole. Shlump lands in Springfield on his The Chronicles of Shlump Tour with support from Shanghai Doom for a set that’s built to bend reality — deep bass, alien textures, and trippy soundscapes that blur the line between space and sound. A pioneer in the experimental bass scene, Shlump delivers heavy vibrations and intergalactic grooves that pull you into orbit. This isn’t just a concert, it’s a journey through the outer realms of sound.

Michael Petzel aka Shlump grew up in California’s Bay Area, learning the guitar at age 9 and falling in love with music at first through the energy of metal and punk. Developing a taste for electronic music in high school via Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and Warp Records, he began to jump into music production, combining drum loops with recordings of his guitar. After being blown away the sub bass in his intro to dubstep, Coki and Cluekid’s “Sensi Dub”, and experiencing his first west coast electronic music festivals, Michael’s love for bass music bloomed and he began to to develop his signature sounds as he dedicated himself to his music career.
Infusing elements of classic dubstep with west coast flavor with otherwordly sound design, Shlump has pioneered his unique “Alien Bass” sound, creating a vibrant galaxy of bass filled with forward thinking nuance and massive waves of low end. His live sets take audiences across the continent on a psychedelic spaceship ride through Shlump’s universe, visiting high energy devastating supernovas of bass and voyaging into depeer realms filled with the cosmic twinkle of sonic stardust.
While at home, Shlump enjoys skateboarding, hiking, and spending time with his kittens and family In between exploring the auditory mysteries of outer space.

Shanghai Doom is an experimental bass duo hailing from Central Jersey. Since their start in 2017, the duo has found their inspiration within the more sinister things in life, dipping into many different sounds and styles to create their masterfully blended dark tones and heavy basslines. Shanghai Doom has established their unique niche within the electronic music community and are dominating it.
Their standout style has gained them support from artists like Liquid Stranger, Excision, Mr. Carmack, Zeds Dead, Barclay Crenshaw, and LSDREAM, with releases on WAKAAN, Cyclops Recordings, Deadbeats, Bassrush, Gravitas Recordings, and Wormhole. Their undeniable ability to create ghastly atmospheres with intricate and polished sound design landed them in direct support of LSDream and Shlump on the Universal Wub Tour, direct support on the ENT/R Neon Tour with Protohype, direct support on Shlump’s Alien Trip Tour, and support for tours including Liquid Stranger, Champagne Drip, and Barclay Crenshaw; as well as on stages and festivals such as Red Rocks, Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, The Armory, WAKAAN Festival, Get Freaky Festival, and Ubbi Dubbi Festival.
Shanghai Doom’s unique approach to sound is one they look forward to creating and sharing with us for years to come.
