Sun Kil Moon, led by singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek (formerly of Red House Painters), remains a prolific and influential project in the indie/folk space, with recent releases including All the Artists (2025) and collaborations with international acts like Hungary’s Amoeba. Kozelek has worked alongside notable artists such as Will Oldham, Mike Patton, Mimi Parker (Low), Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Donny McCaslin, and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), while also collaborating with actors like Kevin Corrigan. His critically acclaimed 2014 album Benji and subsequent releases have earned widespread praise from outlets like Rolling Stone and Uncut, with multiple projects landing on “Best of the Year” lists.

Beyond music, Kozelek has an extensive footprint in film and television. His work has appeared in major films including Vanilla Sky, The Fault in Our Stars, and Almost Famous (in which he also appeared as an actor), as well as in TV series such as Sons of Anarchy, Friday Night Lights, and The O.C.. He has also composed original scores for several films and contributed to acclaimed soundtracks, including Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth. In addition to his recording career, Kozelek founded Caldo Verde Records and has produced work for other artists, further cementing his reputation as a respected and multifaceted figure in modern independent music.
