Cryptopsy is a Canadian death metal band from Montreal, formed in 1988.
A person spends all day building a machine, only for it to torture them all through the night. As if that wasn’t twisted enough, they like it. In fact, they like being tortured so much that they wake up rejuvenated, eager to tweak the machine until it runs perfectly in their mind.
This is the nocturnal vision that inspired Cryptopsy’s ninth full-length nightmare. An Insatiable Violence mirrors our toxic relationship with social media, but while eerily prescient, the album is influenced by the many mutations that have defined the band’s Hall of Fame discography. Inspired by a mukbang gone horribly wrong, ravenous opener “The Nimis Adoration” is a smorgasbord of gut-busting blasts, fishhook riffs and a heavy helping of pit-pleasing groove.
Despite having claimed the crown as the most vile band in death metal on only their second stab in the studio, Cryptopsy are still pushing the limits of extremity. “Until There’s Nothing Left” stakes its claim as the band’s biggest earworm. Even drummer Flo Mounier has honed new techniques to keep their blasphemy fresh. For the album’s finishing move, “Malicious Needs” slithers to a crawl before ascending like a bat into a blackened cloud of smoke.
Bow to the new vileness from extreme metal royalty.

Necrot was founded by bassist, vocalist and principal songwriter Luca Indrio and drummer Chad Gailey in 2011 – guitarist Sonny Reinhardt joined in 2012 – the Oakland, California trio offer Lifeless Birth as a peak of their efforts to encapsulate and push forward the deathly stylings of 2020’s Mortal and their 2017 debut, Blood Offerings. It’s not about giving up a ferocity that’s helped make them a household name among the converted. The maturity they show on Lifeless Birth manifest a vision of what Metal can be and do in 2024, tearing down old barriers and keeping those traditional elements that make it stronger.
By 2017, They had released 3 demos, a compilation LP, and their debut album, "Blood Offerings". “Blood Offerings” charted at #29 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart and #52 New Artist chart and ranked in at #4 on Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 Albums of 2017. Their 2nd album, “Mortal”, was released in 2020 through Tankcrimes and placed in 14 different spots on the Billboard charts including #2 Top New Artist, #10 Heatseekers, #17 Emerging Artist, and #41 Billboard Top Albums. They also charted within the Top 20 on numerous Top Album Year-End lists including Decibel, where they placed at #6, and Revolver at #20.
Necrot have tour with Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Municipal Waste and many others. Expect no letup as Lifeless Birth brings Necrot to their own place among metal’s superlatively aggressive proliferators.

Fulci were formed in 2014, releasing their first demo tape as an immediate declaration of intent: a death metal tribute to Italian horror master Lucio Fulci. In 2015 they unleashed their debut album Opening The Hell Gates, blending brutal riffs with cinematic atmosphere.
Their live shows are more than concerts—they are immersive experiences featuring visuals, horror film samples, synth layers, and theatrical lighting when possible, turning each performance into a gore-soaked spectacle. In 2019 Fulci released the album Tropical Inferno and were confirmed for the Las Vegas Death Fest.
The band combine their two passions: death metal and Lucio Fulci’s horror films. Every release is dedicated to one of his movies. Musically, Fulci draw influence from NY/Tampa death metal (Immolation, Incantation, Cannibal Corpse), gore metal (Mortician, Necrophagia), slam (Internal Bleeding, Devourment), and legendary soundtrack composers like Fabio Frizzi, Franco Micalizzi, Stelvio Cipriani, and John Carpenter.

BLOOD MONOLITH is an emerging death metal juggernaut featuring members of Nails, Undeath, Ulthar, and Genocide Pact. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Shelby Lermo (Nails, Ulthar) in 2023 after his exit from Vastum, the goal was to create something even uglier, weirder, and more aggressive operating out of his new home base in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area. Guitarist Tommy Wall (Undeath) joined Lermo, and the music for BLOOD MONOLITH’s debut LP was soon written. Bassist Nolan (Genocide Pact, Shitstorm) and drummer Aidan Tydings-Lynch (Deliriant Nerve, Brain Tourniquet) rounded out the lineup.
The band’s location ties deeply into their sound, as this epicenter of mass murder and corruption provides constant fuel for boiled-down anger (as well as a rich history of rebellion through music). The album’s title, The Calling of Fire, invokes the internal and external summoning of rage to spit in the face of that seemingly unstoppable, towering evil, and the sonic excess within lands like a broad-daylight assassination.
BLOOD MONOLITH’s unique and unconventional concept and aesthetic sets them apart from the plethora of interchangeable death metal bands currently inhabiting the scene, and their music is miles beyond them as well. There is a DIY mindset and ethic present, but despite the punk and grindcore pedigree of its members, BLOOD MONOLITH plays crazed death metal of the highest order, influenced as much by classics like Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse as modern innovators like Defeated Sanity and Dead Congregation. Adorned with cover art by legendary Rudimentary Peni frontman Nick Blinko, The Calling of Fire is a testament to all things musically frenzied and extreme, a brutally succinct statement of nihilism in a world beyond salvation.
