THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD

The Dread Crew of Oddwood is an independent folk metal band from San Diego, California, renowned for pioneering a genre they call "Heavy Mahogany". Formed in 2008, the band uniquely infuses the aggressive energy of heavy metal with Celtic and European folk music, utilizing an instrumentation setup consisting entirely of acoustic instruments. Their lyrics and thematic presentation center around pirates, comedic high-seas misadventures, airships, and drunken debauchery. The group found its early footing by cultivating a dedicated cult following performing at various Renaissance faires and clubs across North America. Rather than conventional electric guitars, they shred, riff, and build their heavy rhythm section using acoustic tools.
