Pittsburgh locals, The Lost Causes, aren’t strangers to letting you know how they feel, for better or for worse. On January 13th, the Appalachian-folk collective drops their debut full-length album wherever you stream music. This self-titled LP comes after years of writing and collaboration started by Set DiBello. Tracks written and led by band members Britt Haefeli, Jack

Hill, and David Powell round out the album and help create a sense of convergence and camaraderie that the group loves to show on stage.

The theme of this first release sprouts from the concept of “Optimistic Nilhilsm”, and aims to take a positive crack at the view that everything seems to be getting continuously worse. Stories of heartbreak, self improvement, hopefulness, mortality, and confronting generational trauma guide the album, but there’s no need to take anything too seriously - it’s all underscored with banjo and the vibe of a Western PA hoedown. The Lost Causes hope that you listen and walk away feeling that regardless of things being heavy, everything is going to work out in its own way.
