FREE EVENT! The CAZ Lecture Series:

Buffalo architect and developer and owner of The CAZ, C. Jake Schneider, AIA, will showcase his architect/development work and how he leveraged state & federal historic tax credits to spearhead the adaptive reuse of derelict properties, breathing new economic life into Buffalo's historic neighborhoods.

Schneider will detail how his multidisciplinary firm, Schneider Development Services, transformed over 500,000 square feet of abandoned downtown real estate, highlighting the preservation of intricate original historic building fabric and details including facades, moldings, stained glass, windows, terrazzo and marble flooring.

He will explain the vital role of federal and NYS Historic Tax Credits that provided the gap financing needed to offset construction and restoration costs. These public-private partnerships allowed his projects to achieve the financial benchmarks required by investors and lending partners. The design team at Schneider Architectural Services, PC satisfied rigorous National Park Service preservation standards while remaining financially viable.

Schneider will highlight his South Buffalo revitalization efforts as a case study. He will outline how turning the vacant Shea’s Seneca theater into a mixed-use hub, The SHOW, and repurposing a century-old bank into a boutique music venue, The CAZ, act as catalysts for neighborhood stabilization.
