About the show:

Joel Vanderheyden takes the grit, the rebellion, and the raw energy of rock’s greatest hits and filters them through the sophisticated, improvisational lens of jazz.

Imagine Led Zeppelin with a swing, Radiohead with a blue note, or Pink Floyd stripped down to a smoky saxophone and upright bass. Join us in the intimate, acoustically rich confines of Scout Hall for a deconstruction of the songs you love, rebuilt in real time by one of the most innovative horn players on the scene.

Underground Jazz

In partnership with Scout Hall and directed by Dr. Felipe Brito, SEMO Director of Jazz Studies, the Underground Jazz Series aims to bring the best jazz musicians from St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, Kansas City, and beyond to the Cape Girardeau and SEMO community.

About Abstraction Spirits

Abstraction Spirits proudly supports Underground Jazz. They love art, they love a good drink and they're fun at parties.

The idea for Abstraction Spirits was born out of an interest in the world of art collection and the awe and beauty of the bourbon industry. They aim to produce a product that creates a wonderful piece of artwork in the presentation and a delicious spirit to share with friends.
