The Southeast has long been a fertile ground for jam bands, and Wax

Monkey is a Birmingham, Alabama group looking to leave its mark. The band

consists of five lifelong friends drawing on a wide variety of influences to create

an ever-evolving sound that is equally at home on stage and in the studio.

Wax Monkey was formed in 2023 and consists of Wilder Hines (lead

guitar), Henry Cardwell (rhythm, lead vocals), Hudson Murrell (keys, backup

vocals), Jones Beavers (bass, backup vocals), and Harrison Wood (drums). Their

improvisational skills and diverse musical backgrounds allow them to take

audiences on a musical journey through spacey, psychedelic jams, hard-hitting

rock ‘n’ roll, groove-heavy disco, and soulful reggae. Thanks to countless hours of

jamming, the group is able to seamlessly transition between these genres and

moods while adding a unique flourish every time, giving their live shows a

distinctive quality.

With the release of their first album Encompass and a rigorous touring

schedule, Wax Monkey is looking to spread their music to a much larger audience.

But no matter how many shows they play, they are constantly looking to take risks

and surprise audiences-and themselves.
